Battery change

Required tools

  • Screwdriver - Torx 5

  • Screwdriver - Torx 6

  • Battery LiPeFO 3.2v

Step 1

Unscrew lamp casing

Using a Torx 6 screwdriver, carefully remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the case.

Screws are small and light, so make sure to place them in a safe spot to avoid losing them.

Step 2

Open the plastic casing

Carefully separate the two parts of the plastic casing. Make sure not to pull too fast as there is a battery cable still keeping the two parts together.

Step 3

Pull battery out from bottom casing

Gently pull out the battery.

If the battery is locked very tight, pull firmly but with care not to damage the cables.

Avoid using sharp tools such as pliers, which may damage or break the cables to the battery. This is a safety hazard!

DO NOT use sharp edge tools to pull battery out.

Step 4

Disconnect battery from electronics board

Depending on the version of you lamp, the battery will be attached to the electronics board in one of two ways:

Type 1)

The battery connector has 2 halves, 1 soldered to the board, and 1 attached to the battery cables. Using your fingers, gently pull the battery connector half. (Pulling the entire connector, might lead to breaking the solder.

You might find silicon glue around the connector; this is not hard to remove by simply pulling the connector away.

Type 2)

The battery cables are soldered directly to the electronics board (PCB). In this case you will need to use a soldering iron to melt the connection and be able to pull the cables out. Alternatively, you may clip the cables, one at a time.

Step 5

Old battery is hazardous e-Waste

Old batteries are electronic waste (eWaste). If possible it should be handed to a specialized party.

Old batteries MUST NOT be discarded as regular trash.

Step 6

Install new battery

Make sure the new battery completely matches the physical size, voltage and chemistry of the old battery.

Read the printed information on the battery wrapping, it must be marked with:

LiFePo which stands for a Lithium chemistry.
Battery voltage must be marked with 3.2 V
And the size 18 x 65 mm, which is marked with 5 digits 18650.

New battery MUST be marked as LiFePo 3.2 V

Step 7

Connect new battery in

Install the new battery by inserting the connector into the electronics board.

Step 8

Reassemble the lamp

Following the steps 5-1 in reverse order, reassemble the lamp.
